2023 Legislative Session

I very much enjoyed working with constituents, colleagues and others to craft some meaningful legislation during the session. I was also committed to getting funding for needs in our district. You can read more about what I worked on below.

Funding Wins for Our District

$306,420 for the City of Lowell Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

$143,000 for the Row River Fire Response for Emergency Communication Equipment

Additional local projects funded by the legislature that I support:

Lane County Behavioral Health Stabilization Center:  $5,058,410

Lane County Emergency Response Functionality:  $5,000,000

Rehabilitation of Cottage Grove Airport: $1,643,889

FOOD for Lane County to purchase land for Food Farm: $1,150,000

Bills I sponsored that were signed into law by the Governor:

HB 2994:  Modifies requirements for health insurance coverage of hearing-related items and services.

HB 2426: Authorizes self-service dispensing of gasoline at retail dispensaries.

HB 3584: Directs schools or school districts to provide electronic communication to parents and guardians of students attending, and to school district employees employed at, school at which safety threat action occurred

Priorities for the 2024 Session Include:

Re-introducing House Bill 3384 (2023) which tightens up animal neglect laws and makes it a felony to starve an animal to death. This legislation was not passed during the 2023 Legislative Session due to a funding technicality.

Requesting funding to fix the Oakridge Airport Runway, as well as continuing to work with the Oregon Department of Aviation to find a solution to fund over $3.5 million in repairs.
