Meet Charlie

Charlie Conrad

I am fortunate to have lived in Dexter for the past 22 years with my wife Andee, who was born and raised in Dexter, and my son Charles, who graduated from Pleasant Hill High School.

The wonderful people, open spaces, and rural living have made this an ideal place to raise a family. I am a fourth-generation Oregonian, born in Corvallis and raised in a career Army family. I appreciate my childhood growing up in numerous places including Germany, Indiana, Virginia, and California. In 1990 I returned to Corvallis where I earned my BS in Wildlife Science in 1994, and in 2012, I earned my Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Colorado. I began life as a public employee In 1998 when I was hired as a Corrections Officer by the Lane County Sheriff’s Department. Since then I have had several other jobs including:

  • Springfield Police Department

    • Police Officer and Detective

    • 14 yrs

  • League of Oregon Cities

    • Research Coordinator

    • 2 yrs

  • Lane County

    • Parks and Lane Events Center

    • 5 yrs

As a public employee for the past 24 years and as a volunteer member on various public advisory committees, including the Lane County Planning Commission, I have seen people’s lives improve by good legislation and responsible government, and how the opposite is also true.

I believe it is time for Oregon to be fiscally responsible, less intrusive in everyday life, and operate more efficiently, so people can live their lives, and earn a living as they see fit.
